Shark Point is composed by a group of three main pinnacles commonly named “Shark Point 1, 2 and 3” between Phuket and Phi-Phi Islands. The first pinnacle is the only pinnacle that is visible from the surface. The site shines with an inconceivable under water marine life. Shark Point was the first dive site to be classified and protected by the Thai Ministry of Environment like a marine sanctuary.
It is not uncommon to encounter the elegant leopard shark lounge around sandbars, a harmless sleeper shark, which gave its name to the site. The coral gardens, the garnet coloured sponges, the purple bouquets of soft coral and the wide families of multicoloured fishes illuminate the reefs of their brightness.
You probably meet nurse sharks, groupers of respectable size, blue spotted stingrays, lionfish, wahoos, sea horses, ghostpipefishes, nudibranchs, and schools of barracudas, mackerels, snappers, goatfishes, butterflyfishes, damsel fishes and jackfishes. Along the reef itself, moray eels, banded sea snakes, boxfish and triggerfish play hide and seek and pose for the cameras. This list remains to complete after every dive! Sometimes happens whale sharks join scuba divers during their underwater explorations.
